Battlefield 3
It’s been rumored that Battlefield 3, which is being developed by the Swedish game development studio EA’s Digital Illusions CE (DICE), could be a Call of Duty-killer

Now, Marc Saltzman of Game Hunters has revealed a sit down with Patrick Bach, executive producer on the game, at a New York media event.

“Battlefield 3 takes place in the year 2014, and the mission we saw takes place on the Iran-Iraq border. You’re part of a U.S. Marine-led coalition to restore stability to the region — a difficult task given the rise in terrorist activity from the PLR insurgency group. The demo starts with you hopping out of the truck with your fellow soldiers and walking through narrow streets to a briefing area to get instructions on your first mission: investigate an alleged chemical weapons site.”, writes Marc.

Killzone 3 in 3D

The highly anticipated Killzone 3 was officially released this week.  It’s one of many titles slated for the Playstation3 in 3-D.  There are a frenzy of stories.  So what’s all the hype about?

Here’s a round up of some of the headlines out there on the web.

Lazygamer posted a review Killzone 3 after playing the game on a 3D TV with the motion controlled Sharpshooter accessory, describing the gameplay as a whole heap of fun.  While the price point of 3D televion sets might be a little high right now for the average player, Gavin Mannion writes, “Sony will soon be launching a 3D TV’s for the budget-conscious gamer. The Sony Bravia KDL-32EX720; a 32 inch, 1080p, LED-backlit 3D TV will be available locally around April.”

James Brightman for Business Insider says Killzone 3 is a shining example what’s possible graphically on the PS3, and that the company would love to see more development studios support 3D and Move.

Speaking of the Move, Tim Hanlon for Gizmag reviewed Killzone 3 with the Move.  “Move is by far the best controller yet…and turns Killzone 3 from a fantastic first-person shooter to the most immersive, visceral experience you’ll find on a console today.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3D

In case you haven’t been able to experience Call of Duty Black Ops in 3D, Andrei Dumitrescu has a review over at Softpedia under the headline: Call of Duty: Black Ops – The 3D First Person Shooter Experience.

Andrei writes: ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops is a real treat with 3D glasses on and a carefully adjusted depth setting, especially when the game delivers the sort of carefully crafted complex vistas that can be seen in the level where a Soyuz capsule launch is happening or in the rooftop chase sequence.’

Despite the cost to play in 3D (which will go down in price as competition heats up in the 3D market) Andrei gives it a thumbs up for realism, ‘Weapons in particular and characters moving quickly really seem to come at the player, sometimes almost eliciting a physical response, like dodging out of the path of RPG rounds while trying to snipe the enemy that shot them.’
